The calendar is populated according to "feeds," which select information from records in a particular View according to a label field, a start field, and an end field (if applicable).

  1. Click the "+ Add Feed" button in the bottom-right corner.
  2. Select a color (required)
A color will be selected by default, but you are welcome to select any color you wish from the available options. A color may be used for more than one feed.
  3. Enter a feed label (required)
This should be a brief descriptor of the types of events to differentiate them from the records from other feeds (e.g. "Article Due Dates", "Project Launch Dates", etc.).
  4. Select a Table (required)
The primary functionality of Master Calendar is that it allows users to display records from more than Table in a single calendar interface.
  5. Select a View (required)
Defining a View ensures only the necessary records will be loaded to improve the app's load times. It is highly recommended that all Views used for the app have a filter to remove extraneous records (e.g. show records no older than a year).
  6. Enter an event label field (required)
This setting controls how events will be labeled. This is typically the name of the record, though you may use a field other than the primary field.
  7. Select a start field (required)
Identify the field which should control the start date/time for events. If no time component is provided, the events will show as "all-day" events.
  8. Select an end field (optional)
If no field for an end date is provided, records will be displayed on the calendar as all-day events if the start field has no time component, or as one-hour events if the start field does have a time component. If an end date is provided, both the start field and end field must be editable in order to update the events using the calendar.

An indicator is displayed to the right of each setting:

  • A red "x" indicates that the setting is required but is not filled in
  • A gray checkmark indicates that the setting is optional and is not filled in
  • A green checkmark indicates that the setting has been filled in

If a feed has at least one required setting which has not been filled in, a warning symbol will appear at the top of the feed.

All required settings for all required feeds must be completed before you can leave the settings page.
